Still good snow in NOCO

Lots of great snow still Saturday up near Vagabond Ranch in Northern CO.  Met a great group of guys who rode with us most the day.  Even got to try out their '13 XM and '12 XP with Tmotion and flex edge.  Smooth powerful motors, but I'm still not used to those chassis'.  Stick with what works for you I guess.  The transition from my modded M8 to my pro is very easy, and I can put either sled anywhere I want on the mountain.   Tried the SLT skis today on the M8.  Acutally like them better than the powder pros.  More predictable.  The 2.6" powerclaw killed it again today.  I love this track.  Until Polaris comes out with a new motor/chassis for 2015, or I am wow'd by Cat with the '14 Proclimb on a demo ride, then I'll stick with what I have and has been proven to work for me.  Only snapped a couple pics but got Jason's stick trying to follow my asshole trench/line. Saw Kaleb Timberlake for the first time in years on the way out by random.  It was retard day on the drive down.  Guy driving 10mph max with 20 cars stacked up behind him.  No one passes and no one pulls off.  Unbelievable who they give drivers licenses to...

20" of fresh pow and bluebird in Northern Colorado

Took Mark Heck up Sunday.  His first ride this season after selling his sled last fall.  He did great on the Polaris pro coming off an 08 XP.  Today was probably the best conditions of the season.  20" of fresh pow, bluebird, no wind, and a great base underneith.  We hit it perfect.  I'm guessing this will be the last of the winter base as temps this week will reach mid 40's and make it rock hard.

Area J

Deep day.  Nothing broken.  Crazy creek climb.  Today was great.

Back to the Roots

Haven't been up to where it all started in NOCO all year.  Took my buddy Spencer out for his first ride in two years.  He did well.  Beautiful day out with 12-18" of fresh pow.  Snapped a pic of Paradise Bowl where the avalanche happened last weekend taking the life of a skier.  To think how we used to climb and sidehill  that face.  Were just rolling the dice back then.  Much wiser now and will never hit that face again.  Trees are more fun anyway.  Landed on a rock off a jump with the Polaris and damaged the chassis right at the jackshaft and speedo sensor.  Should have it fixed up in no time though.  Did some back to back climbs with both my sleds and my M8 absolutely destroys the pro rmk up the hill.  Didn't even get 1/2 way to the second lake with the pro, and the M8 walked right up.  Granted the M8 has a longer 162 track with the powerclaw 2.6 and Kmod, but the proof of how much more powerful the Cat is was laid out on the hill.  Very impressed that the M's are still a force in the backcountry. Both sleds pulled 8000-8100rpms all day.

Snowies 2-22-13

Had a great weekend at my cabin.  Untracked powder was hard to find this weekend in the snowies on Friday and Saturday, but we found it.  Got 50 miles on the new Polaris motor, and the M8 ran great with a new steering post and primary clutch.  Jason's M1000 has developed a small crack in the Y pipe, so a new one is on order.  Still ran well.

Rough day in NOCO

Perfect bluebird day Saturday the 16th, plenty of fresh powder.  Get up to our area and started hitting the good stuff.  45 min later, SNAP!  Broken steering post on the M8.  Had to boondock out of the backcountry without being towed.  Trying to boondock without any steering has got to be one of the hardest things I've ever done on a sled...probably worse than riding out on one ski!!!
Here's a pic of Jason Barcus getting in a pow turn before our ride out.  Took over 3 hrs to get my sled back to the truck, 15 miles.
