Colorado Backcountry: Mid Storm - 01.11.08

Alex and I went up for a sledding adventure today. Pretty much mid storm as the snow dropped and the wind howled. Very gray bird and white out conditions, we saw the sun poke through for about 5 minutes total. Found some deep stuff in the trees down low and some deep wind drifts. Avy danger is pretty high all around the state right now so we stuck to low angle stuff, highmarked a few safe areas and had fun. Alex did a great job on the pictures!

Colorado Backcountry: Wyoming Cabin Trip - 12.23.2007

Went up sledding for a couple of days and had a crazy white out wind blown drive up to Jordan's cabin near Saratoga, WY. It was bluebird in the morning on the first day and we had lots of powder and tons of boondocking above treeline. Chilled out at the cabin for the night and most of the day today.. Parts of the road to the cabin we not passable via vehicles so we had to snowmobile up.

Colorado Backcountry: North Colorado Deep - 12.12.2007

We schralped some deepness, burned plenty of VES gold and got stuck a couple of times. Snow was blower and fluffy, we broke trail up a couple of old logging roads in at least 30 inch or so!! Had some fun boondocking around some old growth trees, took out the video cam for a session or two.. had about 30 minutes of bluebird total on the day... was way worth it. The video is Jordan on the Mod 800 RMK... stomping some NoCO fluff!

Colorado Backcountry: Sledding - 12.08.07

Met up with the crew and had a fun day poking around and digging out! We had a few minutes of almost bluebird in the morning, then the snow moved in again and the light turned bad. Photos by Alex.

Colorado Backcountry: Buffalo Pass - 12.02.2007

It was deep up at Buff Pass this weekend. Hit a tree on the Dragon, minor front end damage.. Took out the bumper, hood hinge and RH body panel and rivets.

Jordan and I got back north pretty far and almost had to hold up in a snow cave for the night. We had one last chance to rip out of this area as the sun was setting.. the 3 previous attempts to get out resulted in one or both of us getting stuck. We made it back to truck in the dark using the GPS after finding Buff Pass road.

Best day on snow ever, best boondocking and endless untracked powder.

Colorado Backcountry: Northern Colorado - 11.30.2007

Today was sick, almost Charlie Murphy level. Alex and I took the sleds way up north and checked out a new stash. Things weren't looking too good on the way up, very little snow above treeline.. hopefully this storm cycle will have lower winds and lots more pow. We were pretty surprised to find a foot or more of powder on the roads down around 9500k.. covered most of the rocks but still tons of land mines out there. We played in the trees, I beached the Dragon into a huge sugar filled snow drift and got buried up to the bars. Took about 30 minutes of digging while Alex schralped all the remaining pow in sight. Looks like game on for winter, let it snow. See you in the backcountry.
