Colorado Backcountry: Find Me SPOT Satellite Beacon API - 02.27.2008

Wrote an API and some web services code to extend the functionality of GlobalStar's Find Me SPOT satellite beacon. The FindMeSPOT beacon is a great piece of gear but it is seriously lacking in any sort of web or data syndication functions. The new weknowsnow SPOT API will allow you to send us your SPOT data in a public or private mode (location masked). We harvest your data and dump it into a database which you, your crew and/or your family can access. Additionally, it provides a couple of different graphical widgets that are generated on the fly based on your SPOT Unit-ID. These images and status messages can be displayed on any webpage, blog, forum, whatever. If you have a SPOT we would love some more help testing out the first release of the API. Currently, all data is location masked to protect your secret stashes.

Alaska Backcountry: Ghost Ride Yo’ Whip - 01.31.2008

"I found myself at arctic man, super drunk after watching the race from where the rider slingshots the skier... anyways, two bottles of jager later, a conversation about parodys, my friends and i decided to shoot a "ghost ride the whip" video to make fun of all the people on the west coast(california) who think 'ghost riding' is cool.... this was created for them." --trav907

Alex, Jordan, Jason and I went up and hit it right. Got to the trailhead just as the snow was ending. Bluebird and no wind the rest of the day.. tons of new pow to play with. Met up with Keith and E and we had quite the posse going. Alex shot photos again today, dude is killing it on the apex.
