Colorado Backcountry: Steamboat Kifaru Trip - 12.29.06 - 01.01.07

The Kifaru trip was out of this world. Big thanks to Will and Dave (STE) for setting up the trip and getting things rolling. I can't think of a better way to spend the last few days of 2006 and the first couple days of 2007.

Colorado Backcountry: 12.26.06 - WY and CO Attack!

Took some new bros out yesterday for some sled access. Wysplit_ride and his cousin Tim were down in town from the Tetons for the holiday. We decided to head out to one of the normal spots and get some work done. After spending almost 5 hours putting the sled road in after the blizzard on Friday, the work paid off. A little windy, it was a mostly bluebird day with lots of fresh turns. Here are a couple shots from yesterday, I'll post up Jermey's shots when I get them.

Colorado Backcountry: The Holiday Blizzard - 12.20.2006

Well the snow is back in a big way. Mark and I hammered our way up I70 yesterday to one of the local sidecountry spots and got a bunch of pow runs in. The storm was just gearing up and snowing really hard, after each lap our tracks were completely filled in. It was great to see all of the normal crew out on the pass and meet some new faces as well. Gotta say whats up to my boy Doug (aka lips, aka cpt pow!) and his crew, great seeing you guys and taking a few laps. Met some new guys when Mark and I took a break in the shack, Tommy and Mike. We ended up shuttling the rest of the day with those guys and it doesn't really get much better. Mark and I decided to roll out about 2:00pm and try and make it back to town, the roads are crazy. I70 is shutdown, everything is closed. I'm going to ride my sled around Boulder!

A couple of pics from yesterday, as you can see I don't have my D40 skills dialed yet. Missed a couple of money shots of Mike and Mark, some are out of focus, you get the idea. Enjoy

Colorado Backcountry: Recon Day - 12.15.2006

Went up to the local spot to do some recon and some more snowmoshreddin. No new snow we got some goods in the north facing trees and spent most of the day breaking trail and checking out different side roads. It was mellow pace and it gave me a chance to test out the new Nikon D40. I'm a complete DSLR jong so these pictures aren't the greatest.

Colorado Backcountry: The Pocket - 12.09.2006

We went back up to the new stash, no fresh snow for a week we still found some nice snow and great turns. We rode true north facing trees and up top it was sun baked powder conditions, each of us had 4-5 laps before I cooked lunch. Mom packed a killer stash of Brunswick stew. Thanks! The main goal of the day was to recon and scout some new options, so after lunch we focused on that and made our way to some new areas. Here are a few pictures from the last couple of adventures that I found on my point-and-shoot camera. Testing out the new Nikon D40 tomorrow and this weekend. We need snow!
