Backcountry Gear: Phazer MTN Lite + CFR Double D

The above picture shows the Phazer MTN Lite with CFR Double-D Rack and Dual Ski/Snowboard mounts. With the lack of storage on the Phazer this mod also provides ample space on the back of the tunnel for extra gas, cameras, gear, whatever. weknowsnow.com has CFR inventory in stock, please contact JP if you are interested or would like to place an order. Thanks and check out our friends at CFR!

Colorado Backcountry: OMFG! Did this really happen? 12.2.06-12.3.06

Taking our chances on a new locale in the northern part of the state, we set out with hopes of at least making some turns, scoping out some new lines, and maybe findind some soft snow. Checking out a new bc spot always makes for a fun adventure, even when the turns aren't that great. What started as a recon mission ended up being an all out deep powder feeding frenzy. On Wednesday night over 2' fell, with another 15"+ on Friday night. We had found the powder keg and there was not another soul in sight for a good 15 miles.

Today was one of those days where there's no lunch break, no stopping for pictures (managed to snap a few), and just all out charging.

Ever wonder what you get when you mix 20"+ of pow with -20 degree temps, some elevation, a little dry air, and a sick day from work? After a long and dreadful 2 week long drought, Colorado finally got a delivery of the goods and the delivery was grande. Over 3' dropped in some places amongst cold temperatures and a slow moving air mass.

Great beginning to a great day:

Colorado Update: Vail & Aspen Opener!

Justin Bartle & Wyatt Stasinos - Photo: Zach Hooper - Vail

Vail opener went off like this. CrookedCop, Justin Bartle and Wyatt Stasinos show up and we decide to take the gondola to the top, lots of terrain open.. we find plenty of sun baked fresh powder lines. Beautiful bluebird day, Zach sets up for a photog op and JB and Wyatt float a couple of huge indy grabs off of glamour cliffs. Lots of cheers from the chairlift crew and gaper squad, after that we took another quick lap and called it a day. Off to Aspen...

Roll into Aspen around 4:30pm and checked into the media condo, makes all the difference in the world having a place to shower and relax a bit before the nights adventures in Aspen. Thanks snowboard-mag.com and Aspen/Snowmass for the major hookup. After a little down time I rolled over and met up with CrookedCop and crew.. chilled out a bit and watched ir77. So sick.

Colorado Backcountry: Deep & Bluebird Winter

Yesterday was amazing. Perfect bluebird day with zero wind. Spent the early morning boondockin the sleds around a certain meadow..around 7:30am or so we tracked that out and went to the normal spot to start blazin the sled highway for drop off and pick up points. Once that was done, it was game on. We rode 10-12 laps each of 2 foot fresh the rest of the day. Finished up the afternoon with a little sled tour and ran into mr. dodds and crew. expect something off the chain from those guys!
