BACKCOUNTRY SNOWBOARDING AND SNOWMOBILE GEAR: TOOLS FOR FINDING THE DEEP

It has been a long time since we've posted a gear list that we use daily for backcountry snowboarding and snowmobiling adventure/exploration. So, in addition to basic survival gear and avalache safety tools - this is what we carry!

STIHL

For early season trail clearing and deep exploration, it is key to have a chainsaw or two in the crew. We carry the MS 200 T and MS 192 TC by STIHL.

YAESU

Radio communication is a priority. We carry Yaesu VX-7R HT radios with freeband transmit modifications allowing us to communicate outside of normal ham bands for search and rescue. Also, this modification allows the HT radios to openly communicate with our Motorola Talkabout T5950 radios. FCC ham radio license is required for all but emergency communication.

ABS

Avalanche Airbag System. Jordan and I both ride with the Vario 30 ABS system at all times. Some new rumors of carbon fibre canisters and remote wireless partner triggering devices on the horizon.

OMNIHEAT

New technology from Columbia. These jackets are kick ass, I rock the Powder Bowl Parka and I haven't been cold yet. On the super cold days this is an essential piece of gear.

RACKS

If you aren't rolling with a Cheetah Factory Racing setup you are wasting your money and probably impacting your friends *production levels* in the backcountry. Buy it once!

GPS/SATELLITE

Delmore PN-40 loaded with current satellite imagery. SPOT satellite beacons on each team member and a GlobalStar Sat phone for the crew leader for the day.

Just a quick list of the essentials... some super techy, some not. Enjoy..
