North Traverse Peak (13,079′): One last adventure in the Gore

The Gore Range and the rest of the Vail Valley suffered from a subpar snowfall this season, making for a quick and not-so-good spring season. Most of the Vail side lines were done by mid-May. The east side lines held decent snow, but the long approaches and closures of trailhead access made it a tough season to get much done in the Gore. Here are a few pics from our last excursion deep into the Gore Range sometime in June. This ended up being more of a scouting trip for future trips. We ended up connecting a fun line off the north side of North Traverse Peak. Most importantly from this trip we found a couple of “must do” lines for next year. This one in particular really got the blood flowing the mind churning:

Plenty of exposure, some nice steepness, and a very aesthetic line which probably hasn’t seen ski tracks in quite some time or ever.

Enjoy some pics from our trip. Mostly scenics as Stan took most of the action shots.
