Trip report and most Pictures: iskibc

Saturday
Last Saturday morning the flakes fell from the sky one by one falling every slowly before hitting the ground. As the day grew older the winds picked up and the snow came down harder. Soon enough the highways were snowpacked as the resorts closed for the day and the hordes of people rushed back down I70 to get back to the front range. By nightfall the snow intensified by the hour and sometime after midnight it was full on nuking at a good 2″ per hour rate.

Sunday
Still snowing. The big winner….Steamboat and the northern Park Range. 12+” overnight, still dumping at first report.

Monday
Power-nuking! This storm isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. 4″ per hour rate recorded with 4% water content up high in Steamboat.

Tuesday
Still snowing, but letting up a little. In between storms.

Wednesday
Still snowing. Most everyone getting in on the goods now. Aspen zone reporting good results, CB the big winner with 12″+. Steamboat only gets 11″ overnight this time.

Thursday
Still snowing. Nuking in Eagle County, Aspen zone, steamboat zone, most of the front range.

Friday
Power nuking again off and on all day long. Buffalo pass reaches 100″ on the week. Vail has 3.5′ since Saturday. Will it ever stop? Oh shit, I jinxed it!…..

Saturday
Total bluebird. Game on…..

Nearing the top of our first run of the day:

Some more scenics:

Temps were right around zero as we reached the top of our line at around 7:45am.The snow was super slow, but nice and deep.

Nothing like waking up to soft and fluffy pillows:

Reidhresko throwing down:

Lap after lap, the skiing got better and the lines got more interesting. I’ve never skied the same line in Utopia. The area is huge and there’s enough pillow lines and cliff drops to last a lifetime.

Wyoming Backcountry: Day 1 - Jackson Hole - 02.22.07

On the way to Scrubfest ‘07 we stopped off at Jackson Hole and rode a day at the resort. Great conditions after almost 9″ new the previous day. We were happy to not be driving and in the land of mass snow.
