Colorado Backcountry: Northern Colorado - 11.30.2007
Today was sick, almost Charlie Murphy level. Alex and I took the sleds way up north and checked out a new stash. Things weren’t looking too good on the way up, very little snow above treeline.. hopefully this storm cycle will have lower winds and lots more pow. We were pretty surprised to find a foot or more of powder on the roads down around 9500k.. covered most of the rocks but still tons of land mines out there. We played in the trees, I beached the Dragon into a huge sugar filled snow drift and got buried up to the bars. Took about 30 minutes of digging while Alex schralped all the remaining pow in sight. Looks like game on for winter, let it snow. See you in the backcountry.

Hey JP,
Great pictures. The new snow is good, very good!!
My new sled this year is a 08′ 700 RMK 155 track, I’ve got it set up to carry 2 boards. My board set up is, using 2 gun racks for a 4-wheeler. It is a pretty light & simple set-up to carry a snowboard and extra shovel. I’ve got an 05′ 800 RMK 159 track that I’ve used in the mountains the last 2 years with same set-up. I’m pumped to ride the new 700, same horsepower but 40 pounds lighter than the 800. I noticed no windshield on the dragon.
I’ll be out the week of Dec 9. Start out in the Snowies & head to northern Colorado. No schedule, just ride & board.
Enjoy the new pow & Dragon!!

You are gonna be really happy with the RMK 155.. same sled as the dragon minus the walker-evans. It handles like a dream… gotta drop me a line when you get out here. — JP

Hey JP,
I met you last season, I got the dragon last year from Glennie. Great sled!!!! Love It!!!!! One thing to be careful with is the tbolt mounts on the tunnel. It is not designed to handle too much weight. I bent mine on Vail Pass last year. Had a guy in Longmont fix it. He did an amazing job. If you ever need any aluminum welded he is the man. Also, would love to ride with you guys. I am looking for some guys to ride with next weekend. My buddy has his kids and cannot ride. So, I need some friends to ride with. I know Kaleb from Jones and all the rangers, nova guides, and powder cats guides from Vail Pass know me and my buddy. So, perfectly capable. If you are interested, I would love to meet you somewhere. Hope to hear from you.
