The first Canadian fatality for the 2011-12 season happened near Prince George on Nov 13. The body of the snowmobiler was recovered during a break in conditions on the 14th.

Avalanche Incident - Utah - Skiing

The first US fatality for the 2011-12 season happened in Utah on Nov 13. A skier at Snowbird was swept over cliff bands and died of trauma. The ski area was not opened for the season yet.
